Dear Mr. Keppler:

This letter is in response to IE Bulletin Nos. 78-12,78-12A and 78-123 as applicable to the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station Unit No. 1.

Babcock & Wilcox (B&W) has provided the requested information in a report titled " Records Investigation Report Related to Off-Chemistry Welds in Material Surveillance Specimens and Response to Bulletin 73-12 and 12A Supplenent" which is applicable to the Davis-Besse f acility.

Their March 13, 1979 submittal letter is included as Attachment A.

In addition, to cover all welds as called for in the 78-12B, Item 2, Page 1, we are attaching a copy of B&W letter DB-79-45 dated May 24, 1979 (Attachment B) which covers those ferritic welds on Davis-Besse Unit I not covered in the Records Investigation Report.
