This refers to your letter dated May 8, 1979 containing questions on our Shipping Container QA Manual submitted on December 11, 1978.
You had requested that we address these questions and resubmit the revised QA program within 30 days following receipt of the May 8 letter.
Although progress has been made in answering the questions, a number of recent circumstances which we have discussed with Mr. Odegaarten of your staff, have created the need to delay resubmittal of the QA Plan until August 1,1979.
This request is based on the following considerations:
- 1. The Quality Control Manager was on vacation during the last half of May and as a result was unavailable to discuss the questions.
Since he will have primary responsibility for the QA Plan, his input is essential.
- 2. Recent approval of the Measurement Control Plan submitted under 10 CFR 70.57 and its proper implementation have required significant effort during the past month.
We believe that the August 1, 2979 resubmittal date is necessary in light of the considerations previously stated.
