This i.etter serves to inform vou that he Long Island Liehting Comoany has invoked Code Case ?I-225 ta AS'fr.Section III which allows certification of Class 2 and Class 3 component standard suonorts (manufactured under sub:;ection 'T) bv certificate of conoliance rat.her than a certified material test recort.
Code Case 'i-122 (1745) to \\S'T"Section III has also been invoked which defines the stress indices and crocedures that mar be used to eval-uate stresses in Section III, Division I, Class 1 niping at in-tegral s'.ructural attachnents.
The Lone Island Lighting Conoanv has also invoked ASYZ III, 1976 winter addendum Subsection '!D ':130 allowin~ the elimination or veld reoair of defecta with no ra 3raohv required provided that the welds icinine these materi are not required to be radiographed, the extent of the ueldeo nair does not exceed 10 square inches of the surface area and t maenetic particle or liquid penetrant examination of the recait is made as reauired by 3?D-2539.4 These changes have been re-viewed and aoproved by LILCO, by our engineering and installa-tion a:;ents and will be reviewed and approved by the independent code insnection agency, Hartford Steam Soiler Company.
.\\dditionally, this letter serves to supplement our letter S'!RC-395 dated 5/29/79, invoking Code Case 1644-5 to AS'4E III.
This should be modified such that Code Case 1644-5 is invoked for Class 1, 2 and 3 oipe support assenblies constructed to the re-quirements of subsection '!F provided:

These changes will be incorporated into the aporopriate lesign soecifications and installation cocumentation.
