Case

Dear Mr. Denton:

Per Reference (a), Commonwealth Edison Company committed to inspect Bergen-Patterson snubbers on the following basis:

1.

When the unit is shutdown for 24 hours2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
or longer and the snubbers have not been inspected for 30 days; and 2.

Within 120 day intervals.

This inspection requirement was to be in effect until the tolded polyurethane seals installed in the Zion snubbers were proven compatible with the silicone snubber fluid.

Per Reference (b), Commonwealth Edison notified the NRC that the inspection frequency of the Bergen-Patterson snubbers was being changed from a 120 day interval to each refueling outage.

This change was based on radiological considerations and proven snubber seal compatibility from over 40 inspections in which no abnormalities or seal leakages were found.
