i LONG ISLAND LIGHTING C0bPANY SHOREHAM NUCLEAR POWER STATION DOCKET NO. 50-322 ORDER EXTENDING CONSTRUCTION C0fPLETION DATE Long Island Lighting Company is the holder of Construction Permit i

No. CPFR-95, issued by the Atomic Energy Comission* on April 14, 1973, for construction of the Shoreham tbclear Power Station. This facility is presently under construction at the applicant's site on the north shore I

of Long Island in the town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County, New York.

On December 18, 1978, the applicant requested an extension of the latest completion date because construction has been delayed by the following i

events beyond its control:

1.

strikes 2.

insufficient craft manpower 3.

severe weather conditions 4.

regulatory changes 5.

late delivery of critical equipent

\\

This action involves no significant hazards consideration; good cause has been shown for delay; and the extension is for a reasonable period, the bases f ar which are set forth in an tRC staff evaluation dated May 14,1979, The preparation of an environmental impact statement for this parti-cular action is not warranted because there will be no environmental im-pact attributable to the action authorized by the Crder other than that

  • Effective January 19, 1975, the Atomic Energy Corrmissicn became the ibclear Regulatory Comission and permits in effect on that day were continued under the authority of the fbclear Regulatory Comission.

tion and an environc. ental impact appraisal have been prepared and are available, as are the above stated docunents, for public inspectian at i

the Comnission's Public Document Room,1717 H Street, N. W., Washington, D. C.

20555 and at the Shoreham-Wading River Public Library, Route 25A, i
