In accoraance with your request, the following information has been prepared as a response to IE Bulletin Nos. 78-12 78-12A and 78-123 regarding Atypical 3
Weld Material in Reactor Pressure Vessel Welds.
The CBI Nuclear Co., the manufacturer of the Ferry Nuclear Power Plant reactor pressure vessels, made their generic response to the above bulletins in a letter from Mr. W. G. Oehlkers to Mr. C. W. Reinmuth dated May 1,1979 Their report concludes that no atypical weld material was used in the Perry reactor vessel welds.
Our NSSS vendor, General Electric Company, reviewed the CBI Nuclear report and concurred with the CBI Nuclear conclusion.
General Electric noted that CBI Nuclear does not have archive weld caterial and recorrended that CEI review its inventor for archive meterial. We conducted this review and have determined that no archive wold material is in our inventory.
In conclusion, CEI is satisfied that the CBI Nuclear generic report adequately verifies that atypical weld material has not been used in the Pe y Nuclear Power Plant reactor pressure vessels' welds.
