Gentlemen:
f On June 1,1979 Mr. F. R. Hodges of Public Service Company of Indiana, Inc.
l (PSI) telephoned your offico of a potentially reportable incident involving i
possible damage to the Marble Hill Unit 1 containment liner. The specified
~
pour rate of 3 to 3 1/2 feet per hour was exceeded during the placement of l
concrete in Pour #1CW-Ext-2. The excessive pour rate of 10 feet in 70 minutes resulted in the branHng of a whaler on the lover portion of the formwork and possible bowing of the conem h t liner.

Visual inspection indicated that there may be some deformatien in the liner at the bottom of the subject pour.
i On June 28, 1979 Chicago Bridge & Iron perfomed dimensional measurements i
on the subJact liner. PSI is currently analyzing this data to determine if tha defome. tion of the liner shall is within specification tolerances.

PSI has not yet detamined if this incident is reportable as a significant deficiency under ICC7R50.55(e). This letter is intended to fulfill the requirements of an interim report as defined in 10CFR50.55(e)(3). A com-I plate report will be filed when the evaluation has been ecmpleted.
