Sirmma ry of Activities i
t The NRC mobile survcy team consisted of three persons originally and then two persons in a government owned auto who performed surveys in the plume and at selected points along the east and west shores of the river.
The NRC team was one of three units' performing these surveys, the others being DOE teams from Argonne and Oak Ridge National Laboratories. Surveys consisted of direct measurements with portable G.M. counters (both open and closed window) of general background.
Air, soil, water and vegetation samples were also taken and subeitted to the NRC van for counting.
3.
Licensee Ocerations There was little opportunity ;o observe licensee operations since our activities were limited to rield surveys. We did see licensee mobile survey teams in the field =aking of fsite measurements, we did not contact them.
4.
NRC Operations Radio co==unications were inadequate (ranga lass than one mile) until the Forestry Service Personnel installed a repeater system.
b.
DOE and NRC teams worked independently of each other for the first few days. At times one team would be nio2tes behind the other, both aurveying the same route, repeating data, then the next survey say not be done for two hours.
Eventually the teams coordinated their schedules so duplication was redaced with equal times elapsing between surveys.
