MAY 251979 Docket Nos. STN 50-568 and STN 50-569 Regional Director Fish and Wildlife Service One Gateway Center, Suite 700 Newton Corner, Massachusetts 02158

Dear Sir:

This letter is in response to a letter, dated March 20, 1979, from Mr. Ashe, Acting Regional Director, enclosing a letter from Mrs. Morse and requesting a report of our siting studies and proposals in the state of Rhode Island.

In the near future we expect to issue our Draft Environmental Statement related to construction of NEP 1 & 2.

Mr. Bruce Blanchard, Director, Office of Environmental Projects Review, Department of Interior, will receiva 18 copies.

We do not regard the Moonstone Beach site as a serious candidate site for NEP 1 & 2.

The site happens to l'e between two of the applicant's candidate sites for NEP 1 & 2, and during tne staff's site visit, the applicant pointed it out during the trip between the two candidate sites. Although the appli-cant originally considered Moonstone Beach as a potential site, it did not survive his screening process and was not among the final eight sites (candidate sites) compared with the proposed site at Charlestown.

Sincerely, 2

k N. W Y O $icYI/4 $
