EVALUATION OF PAINE YANKEu'S RESPONSE TO IE BULLETIN 79-06B (WMY ltr. 79-03 of 4/26/79)

'eith the exceptions noted below, the MY response addressed the staff

.acerns and indicated that changes would be completed to assure planc operation in accordance with staff positions identified in the Bulletin.

The following items (by paragraph number) have not been adequately W dressed /or resolved in the MY response:

Paragraph 3 and 8c - Containment Isolation.

Isolation of systems which could transfer potentially radioactive fluid from the containment.

Evaluation is continuing in addition to the written response. The licensee will probably comit to manual initiation of CIS for items 1 - 12 of pm agraph 8e leaving item 13 seal water return from RCPs open on SIAS. In addition operators will verify the positions for those isolation valves and in the closed position prior to resetting on CIS signal.

Paragraph 6c - Continued Operation of RCP.

The licensee now plans to keep two of three RCP's operating as long as they are providing flow through the core.
