MEMORANDUM FOR:
FRO l1:
JohnAhearneg
SUBJECT:
ORDERS TO B&W PLANT LICENSEES The following items are of possible concern at Davis-Besse.
Please consider them for possible inclusion in the Orders to individual E plants directed by today's Commission meeting.
1.
Significant equipment problems identified dur:ng the apparently abnormally long Power Ascension Test Program.
2.
Instrumentation in the control room whicn gives an unambiguous indication of the status of the Power Operated Relief Valve on the pressurizer and the status of any other critical valves.
(I understand there have been some recent problems at Davis-Besse due to misaligriment ot valves in the Low Pressure Injection system.)
3.
A recent test at Davis-Besse of the capability for shutting down the plant frcm outside the control room may have failec because makeup _
tank level data were available only inside the control room.
If this is a problem, should it be resolved?
4.
The steam generator level set point for the auxiliary feed system may be a matter of concern and the subject of administrative controls.
Should circuitry acceptable to NRR be installed?
You may also want to consider the points raised in the attached notices.
