If the standing current does not equal or exceed tnis value, two cossible causes are:
(1) insufficient time for cell to warm up and purge clean witn the hot N2

flow; or (2) the cel1 is covered witn non-volatile suostances that cannot be purged off and mus: ce replaced.
6.2.4 Calibrate detector.
(see Appendix A.)

6.2.6 Connect electrically the sampling pump.

Care must be exercised to prevent contaminaticn of the electron capture cell.
Only prepurified !!2 carrier gas can be used.
The fl2 supply line system mus:
be kept clean and protected from ccntamination when disconnected by tne ese of plugs, etc.
t'o interchange of Freen sample lines and fl2 lines is permis-sible.
To prevent the possibility of erranecus readings, the dilution air lina (Fig. 1, Pcint E) must be lccated at a point where there is no possibility of ambient Fracn er Other hydrocarbon vapors entering the system.
It is very important that the samples taken are representa-ive of the test gas in the duct.
In scme cases it may be necessary to use tecccrary baffles,
etc., to insure adequate mixing.
If the system is under pcsitive pressure, the test gas can be fed into the fan intake.
If not, it should be injected as far as possible upstream of the filters so that the maximum a: cunt of mixing will occur before the : s mixture reaches the fil ters.
The upstream sample shculd be taken as clase to the filters as cractical.
The downstream sample shculd be taken as far practical frca the filter bank.
The cutlet duct frcm the plenum ahere air ve:ccities are high is a good position.
