Dear Mr. Heward:
In regards to the ' above reference, we have reviewed pro-i ding
~~---
,~,(visions'for' temperature mapping in the Reacter Bu l during Hot Functional Testing.
In order to obtain an adequate temperature mapping of the building, readings should be taken from the 16 temperature and humidity sensors permanently installed in the Reactor Buidling and 7 temporary temperature The permanent sensing devices all have sensors.
These indication on panel 25 in the Control Room.
sensors are:
AH-TE-5010, 5011, 5012, 5013, 5014, 5015, 5016, 5017, 5020, 5021, 5022, 5023, 5027, 5088 and AH-HE-5032,'5090 The temporary tempera-ture sensors with installation instructions are listed in the attachment.
Temperature and humidity data recorded during Hot Functional Testing should be returned to Burns and Roe to the attention of Mr.
R. A. Podesfinski.

Mr. R. W. Heward, Jr.
Page 2 5/31/77 - S/N 3842-GP Sample data sheets are shown in attachment #2.
It is suggested that readings be taken from all instruments at two (2) hour intervals as shown on the attached forms for several " typical peak load" days.
Very truly yours, c

TEMPORARY TEMPERATURE SENSING DEVICES FOR HOT FUNCTIONAL TESTING Already existing in the Reactor Building are Resistance Temperature Devices (RTDs) which can be used for the Hot Functional Test.
These RTDs are part of the Leak Rate Test System (Flow Diagram #2517) and can be temporarily moved to the locations needed for the Hot Function Test.
These temperature measurements may be obtained at a temperature indicator (tag #LR-TI-4128)on rack 478 at elevation 328 ft. of the auxiliary building, co-ordinates A65-AD (see General Arrangement drawing #2067).
The following is a listing of the RTDs used and their pertinent information:

In order to locate these RTDs at their Hot F1nctional Test locations, the following modifications must be eifected:
These cables and cable #IT3889 must be pulled and terminated before the Hot Functional Test.

1.
RTD #LR-TE-4148 is enclosed in a box at elevation 347',
coordinates N+22', E+48', within the Reactor Building.
One hundred feet of coiled cabic (#TD1327I) is included with this RTD.
Uncoil the cable and bring the RTD to the Auxiliary Fuel Handling Bridge atop the reactor vessel.
At this point, disconnect the RTD from the cable.
Install a five terminal junction box to any local excess structure (such as a handrail) and termi-nate cable #TD1327I to it.
To the other side of the terminals of the junction box, terminate a 100 foot length of 4 conductor, #14 AWG cable with a FR-15EE jacket.
Snake this new cable with an equal amount of steel cable between the inside wall of the primary shield and the outside wall of the reactor vessel to elevation 291'-6".
Bring the RTD #LR-TE-4148 to this location and terminate it to the cable at elevation 291'-6".
Tie the steel cable around the RTD.
Pull the other end of the steel cable up approximately 15 feet and secure the steel cable to a local hand-rail at the Fuel Handling bridge.
2.
PTD #LR-TE-4149 is enclosed in a box at elevation 347',
coordinates S+3', E+42' within the Reactor Building.
One hundred feet of coiled cable (#TD1328I) is included with this RTD.
Uncoil the cable and bring the RTD to elevation 367'-4", coordinates N+16', E+44'.
At this point, disconnect the RTD from the cable.
Install a five terminal junction box to a local handrail and terminate cable #TI1328I to it.
To the other side of the terminals in the junction box, terminate a 100 foot length of 4 conductor, #14AWG cable with a FR-15EE jacket.
To the other end of the neu 100 foot cable, reconnect the RTD.
Attach a steel cable to the RTD on the floor of Steam Generator B cavity
'"D" Ring),
elevation 281'-6".
Place the RTD on s.e floor inside the Steam Generator support skirt.
3.
RTD #LR-TE-4150 is enclosed in a box at elevation 347',
cootiinates N+23', E+48', within the Reactor Building.
One hundred feet of coiled cable (#IT1329I) is included with this RTD.
Uncoil the cable and bring the RTD to coordinates N+19', E+11'. elevation 350' in the Reactor Building.
Place the RTD on the control rod drive cables and secure it (steel cable) to prevent it from moving.

4.
RTD #LR-TE-4151 is enclosed in a box at elevation 347'.
coordinates S+4', E+43' within the Reactor Building.
One hundred feet of coiled cabl- (#TD1330I) is included with this RTD.
Uncoil the cable and bring the RTD to coordi-nates N+15', E+17' at elevation 367'-4".
Fasten one end of a steel cable to a loc:1 hand' call and the other end of the steel cal'e to the RTD.
Lower the RTD about 15 feet into the Ste.
Generator B acvity
("0" Ring) and tie off the steel cable at that eltvation.
5.
RTD #LR-TE-4132 is enc 1rsed in a box at elavation 347',
coordinates S+4',
W+47 tit.iir She Reactor Building.
One hundred feet of coiled cable u D1331I) is included with this RTD.
Uncoil the cable anc bring the RTD to coordi-nates N+16', W+50' at elevation 370'-4".
At this point, disconnect the RTD from the cable.
Install a five termi-nal junction box to a local handrail and terminate the cable #TD1331I to it.
To the other side of the terminals o the junction box, terminate a 100 fact length of 4 conductor #14 AWG cable with a FR-15EE jacket.
To the other end of the new 100 foot ccble, reconnect the RTD.
Attach a steel cable to the RTD and lower the RTD to the floor of the Steam Generator B cavity
("D" Ring) elevation 281'-6".
Place the RTD on the floor inside the Steam Generator support skirt.
6.
RTD #LR-TE-4153 is enclosed in a box at elevation 347',
coordinates N+29', W+48' within the Reactor Building.
One hundred feet of coiled cable (#TD1332I) is included with this RTD.
Uncoil the cable and bring the RTD to coordinates N+18', W+16' at elevation 367'-4".
Fasten one end of a steel cable to a local handrail and the other end of the steel cable to the RTD.
Lower the RTD about 15 feet into the Steam Generator B cavity
("D" Ring) and tie off the steel cable at that elevation.
7.
After the Hot Functional Test has been completed, return all the RTDs to their original locations by follcwing instructions 1 through 6 in reverse order.
