UIREE MILE ISLuiD NUCLEAR STATION 13 23 1973 UNIT #2 SURVEILLANCE PROCEDU'E 2602-M1 INCORE BACKUP RECORDER CALIBRATICN 1.0 PURPOSE 5

t.

1 To insure that the backup incore recorders used to ec= ply with TMI Unit 2 Technical Specifications 3.2.1, 3.2.2, 3.2.3 and 3.2.4 are in calibration.

2.0 APPLICABLE SURVEILLUTCE FRECUENCY AND MCDE

2.1 Frequency

At least once =cnthly.

2.2 Modes

1 & 2.

3.0 LIMYTS AND PRECALTIONS 3.1 Wait 15 =inutes (or fer obvicus equilibriu=) after a pcwet change pric: to using an incore reading.

3.2 Wait 30 minutes fcilowing a power level change before reading an incare detector for calibration purpcses.

3.3 Restrict pcwer icvel changes to + or - 2 percent during calibration adjustments.

3.4 If it beccees necessary to disconnect an incere detector from the plant cc=puter during power operation, the incore detector leads

=ust be shorted together prior to or i==ediately upon disconnection to prevent undesirable voltage buildup and cc=puter input circuits

=ust be protected during disconnection and reconnection.

3.5 Prior to and subsequent to perferring any maintenance en an incore

=cnitor assembly, obtain a ec=puter printout of all corrected, uncorrected and background currents being legged for that incore

=cnitor assembly. (Cc=puter Groups da and 47) Investigate if any significant errors in the computer data for an incere =cn. tor asse=bly have been introduced by the =aintenance operations.

The backup recorders have a scale of 0 to 3.C0 and shculd be read to two decicTl places.

6.5 Calculate the correction facter as follows:

Correction Factor = j<Rc M

ri NOTE:

Perform the remaining steps only if reactor power is greater than seventy percent.

6.5 Have an instrument technician go to the sickup reccrders with a DVM to make the corrections.

Use the DVM to take a reading for each detector from the detector output.

Enter on computer data sheet printcuts for Reccrder A and B.

Multiply the CVM reading for each detector by the appropriate correction factor to cbtain the correct reading.

Then adjust the depletico setting (potenticmeter) so that 2o 184 142

Ce this for the 36 detectors listed.

NOTE:

Record Digital Voltmeter model, serial number, calibration frequency and date last calibrated en the data sheets.

6.7 Record the correct reading and potenticmeter setting when calibrations have been made.

7.0 ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA 7.1 The appropriate correction factor and depletion setting for each detector have been set as indicated by ccmpleticn of the Cata Sheets for Recorder A and 3.
