RECRITICALITY POTEliTIAL OF T! I-2 CORE 3
i A nuder of KE30 !! ante Carlo analyses were undertaken to establish j
the potential of a recriticality in the TMI-2 core.
It appears that
'i 3500 ppa natural baron uniformly distributed and caintained in the riderator/ coolant will guarantee suberiticality for all credible l
possible abnormal states of the core.
The extrece assumption of j
complete loss of all r.ovable control rods ar.d all fixed burnable poisons was a condition for all the calculations.
I The study indicates alsc that the highest enriched peripheral region J.
of the cora is controlling for criticality when accidental boron (hide out) dilution occurs.
1 i
It is also noted that regardless of the baron ccncentraticn in the l
coolant, if a loc. 'ized 2 percent volu. e of the core (4 fuel assemblies in square gecnetric contact) receives unborated water for the full-l length of the active core, criticality will be achieved.
I' The method of analysi.s, results, and pertinent da'ta are enclosed.
