SUMMARY
OF MEETING ON AIRCRAFT CRASH DATA -
TMI-2 Representatives of the licensee and his contractors met with members of the staff on October 26, 1978 to discuss data for use in testimony for the remanded hearings on aircraft crash at TMI-2.
An attendance list is enclo_cd.
It was noted that the ASLA3 in its order suggestad joint efforts and data comparisons among the parties.
The staff noted the data received thus far from Metropolitan Edison agreed fairly well with information developed independently by the staff.
The licensee supplied tables and graphs giving U.
S.
air carrier accident rates and trafiic, 1956 through 1977, divided according to categorier.
These and previously supplied information were compired again t data collected by the staff, and differences discussed and explained to the mutual satisfaction of tho staff and licensee.
CELD wi]1 propose a stipulation wi.:re by all parties will agree upon the correctness of the traffic and accident data sources.
The licensee and staff each outlined the order in which their work toward preparing testimony was proceeding.
The licensee has completed date collections and collation and has yet to complete the development of an analysis of uncertainty.
The staff has ompleted its analysis In draft, but is awaiting a ccmputer search of National Archive air traffic tapes in order to complete data collection.
ALAB-486 and Commission Order items concerning runway and take-of f weights of each ai craf t cannot be answered due to lack of records.
The licensee's data collection will include whatever angle and speed of impact information exists, while the staff's data will be incomplete in this respect.
