September 28, 1977 REGULATORY GUIDE DISTRIBUTION LIST (DIVISION 1)

The Nuclear Regulatory Comission staff has withdrawn Regulatory Guide 1.66, " Nondestructive Exa~..ination of Tubular Products."

This guide was issued in October 1973 to supplement the examination specified in Section III of the ASME Code for tubular products in-tended for use in safety-related systems of nuclear power plants.

Since that time, all important regulatory positions of the guide have been incorporated in the ASME Code, and the guide is no longer needed.

Licensing comitments based on Regulatory Guide 1.66 are unaffected by the withdrawal.

Regulatory guides may be withdrawn when they are superseded by the Comission's regulations, when equivalent reconmendations have bepa incorporated in applicable approved codes and standards, or when changes in methods and techniques have made them obsolete.
