SUBJECT:
VISIT TO ISLANDS NEAR THREE MILE ISLAND On April 18, 1979 at 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm we made a visit to the islands in tne Susquehanna River near TMI.
Soil and grass samples were taken on the following islands.
Shelly Kohr Hill Poplar Beech 111 islands except Hill Island were uninhabited. The larger islands (Beech, Shelly, Kohr, Henry, Gooschorn and Poplar) had su=mer cottages, trailer and other recreational buildings.
There was no evidence of recent construction or other activity that would indicate occupancy during the past month.
We met three individuals on Hill Island who were working on their summer cottages, they were:
1.
Mr. Ross Seltzer Sr.
Resident on island for last couple weeks approximately 50 years old on the island on March 28, 29, exacuated on March 30.
Was counted on whole body counter in Middletown, no detectable activity above background.
2.
Mr. Ross Seltzer Jr.
Approximately 25 years old was on the island on March 29, and 30 and several times during the last two weeks.
3.
Mr. William Gerfen Middletcwn Pa.
Approximately 70 years old.
Had not been on the island during last week March, f'mt two i
weeks April.
All three stated that they had seen ne sne else on the island during there A
