censultant, Jersey Central Fever & Light Cc=pany, co-evner, and CEL to discuss the Three 411e Island Unit 2 (TMIE2) tendon acehorage systen.
The selection of the type of tenden and anchcrage has been made and the vender (5tressteel) selected. Since only the 3ERV vire tenden snencrsge system has been reviewed and accepted for use in prestressed containment building, the purpose of this meeting was to:
(1) discuss the type of anchorege to be used (2) indicate the type of suppcrting informatien which CRL ve.. ld require to sake an evaluation of the system.
The applicants indicated the tenden anc' crage syste: vould be ene of four systems described in Appendix 53 of the PSAR. McVever, the anchorage system selected for use in the TMIy2 vill be cene of the four described in tne PSAE.
A description of the proposed large strand ' tendons and 5,H vedge anchcrage syste= to be used in TMIp2 ccatainment building was given by the vender representative, Mr. Henry 30ecker, frco the Stressteel Corporation.
The tendcas to be used on TMIE2 are ;L strand /tenden 1/2 inch disteter, 7 wire /stra nd, 0.165 inch dia:eter wire, 270 Grade with an ultimate ca pe city of abcut 20C0 kips. The S/H (Stressteel/Hewlett) '4 edge Anencrage S.yste e plcys a three-piece cenical gripper which holds 3 strands per gripper.
The 5a strand tenden vill require 13 of the cenical grippers in a hexagonal s rre y.
Stressteel vill be perforcing 10 static tests en a full 5h strand 10-foot-lcng tenden to establish performance of the anchcrsge systec, and test the anchorage to the ultimate strength of the tendon. In addition to the static tests, dynamic tests have been perforced en (2) three strand conical gripper anChersges.
