EAR PCNER PLANT UNU f 2 - DOCKET NO. 50-320 An exemption fron the provisions of 10 CFR 50, 50.10(b), was granted to the Metropolitan Edison Company (Met-Ed) and Jersey Central Power and Light Ca::pany (JCPL), co-owners, on June 27, 1969, to authorize insen11ation of the tendon access gallery for the Three Mile Island Unit No. 2 (TM1 #2). This exemption was granted with the under-standing that construction of the tendon access gallery would be carried out in accordance with written quality assurance procedtres.
The extent of construction authorized for installation of the ten-don access gallery is abovn in the attached figure. We have also attached copies of the specification which the applicants have indicated vill be used in the construction of the tendon access gallery.
It would be helpful if inspections which take place during the constructiot. of the tendon access gallery could focus on the ad-quacy with which the quality assurance program is being implenented and applied. Any comments you may have on the adequacy of the Met-Ed/JCPL overall progran would be of use in preparation for a public hearing. The TMI #2 project is currently scheduled for the July 1969 ACES meeting.
