~~ne pur;cse of this letter is to clarify seversl state =ents in cur letter of July 29, 1976, and to indicate the results of the recently ec Pleted tce of the dike survey.
The dike acceptance criteria referenced in cur July 29, 1976, letter vill be develcped and implemented prior Oc the next periedic dike inspecticn planned for Dece=ber, 1976. Se pur;cse of the acceptance criteria vill be te define, as objectively as ;cssible, when repairs tc the iike a e necessary. Cc:parison of the dike's condition te pho:cgraphs taken previousl*/ vill indicate where changes have taken place. Significant changes such as subsidence, ba e spcts, and ercsicr. will be identified and investigated.
'f the investigation of a change results in ne acceptance cri eria being exceeded, repairs to the dike vculi then be initiated.. art of the acceptance criteria vill require that detrimental vegetation, such as trees g eater than ih inches in diameter 1: chest height, be rencved and that vegetatien which precludes proper inspection vill be defoliated er recoved.
Tho:cgraphs of each sector cf the dike frc= 1 sufficient nu=ber of views vill be taken and used as discussed above, :: identify f;;ure changes.
