SUBJECT:

THREE MILE ISLAND MORIII:3 BURP OF RADIOACTIVITY If the release of 63 Ci/sec of radioactive gas lagted for one hour, the total activity released is 2.3 x 10 Ci.

This is 240 times the release rate calculated for the first 24 hours2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
of the LOCA ~ accident in the FSAR, so that the dose rate should be about 240 times'th'e LOCA projection of (15'.R/h r ) at 2000 febt from~the plant, or about'14 mR/hr at two miles.

What was measured at the river shore, about tuo miles off site,-uhs ~ 1/10~-~o f' th is, about 14 mR/hr.-

This difference is reasonable conuidering the_ lack of-

dispersion of the cloud by uind.
