Dear Mr. Chilk:

By letter dated August 30, 1976, Mark J. Wetterhahn, Counsel for Philadelphia Electric Company and Public Service Electric & Gas Company requested additiolal time in which to respond i.c eight Petiticns for Interventicr. filed by The Environmental Coalition cn Nuclear Power.

It appears tnat Mr. Uttterhahn's request was premature since Droper service had not beer. effected at the time of his letter.

Since t:

are not at this tice any ongoing proceedings for the power stations named in four of the Petitions to Interver.e, the Staff is considering these four petitions as requests for action under 10 CFR s 2.205.

In these cases the proper documents are being prepared for action by the Director of the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation.

In four other cases where proceedings are noticed or in progress the PGitions for Intervention have been treated as such under 10 CFR 3 2.714 and have been served on the appropriate Board and parties in the particular case by the Docketino and Service Section of your Office.

The time for response will be computed from date of such service as provided in 10 CFR 5 2.710.

The four petitions which are being treated as s 2.206 requests are:

1.
