TELECRAM 4/23/79 Mr. William C. Walbridge Canaral Manager Sacrainento Municipal Utility District F.O. Box 15830 Bacramento, CA.
94815 Daar Mr. Walbridge:
The following information responds to your request as to the effect upon Northern California electric capacity margina in the event that the Rancho Seco unit is shutdown this au==cr.
The data was revised today frem that previously furnished to the California Energy Commission and the California Public Utilities Com:aission to reflect the forced outage of the 108 ew Contra Costa Uhit No. 1, which occurred on April 21, 1979 and which will extend at laaet through the summer months. Northern Californie ;srea capacity margina, without additional purchases from neighboring utilities and without Rancho Esco, era estimated to be as follows:
May 2.48%
July 0.98%
Juna 3.8%
August 1.07%
Assuming that we purchsae all capacity new eJtit:sted to be availabla frwm ne1 hboring utilities, area marginn are estimated to be 8
May 4.43%
July 3.3 June 8.6%
August 3.4%
These margine are clearly insufficient to protect assinat any additional forced outages, and if loads era as forcsated we would be required to implement curto=ar load curtain =ent procedures.
