SUBJECT:

RECORD OF ACTIONS AT THREE MILE ISLAND During the period March 30, 1979 to April 8,1979, I participated as part of the NRC team assigned to Three Mile Island (TMI).

During this period I was part of a group working on radwaste systems under the direction of John Collins, NRR.

My duties involved two general areas:

1) review cf licensee procedures for handling radicactive wastes generated by the accident; and 2) c w.iing lnformation from control rocm logs and from plant personnei on the status of plant systems.

Review of Licensee Procedures While at th; plant I fomed part of a team of NRR_.and IE personnel reviewing iiunsee procedures for modifying and cperating systems for sampling and processing radioective wastes.

Procedures wcre reviewed and approved for disposal of industrial liquid wastes, san. 'ry wastes, and low activity wastes from Unit No.1.

Also reviewed and : 3 proved were procedures for transferring wastes frca the Miscellane'ss Waste Tank in Unit No. 2 to the Reactor Ccolant Bleed Tank.

Reviewed but not approved was a procedure for sampling the Unit No. 2 primary coolant using a robot.

In the area of gaseous wastes, procedures were reviewed and approved for operating the containment hydrogen reccabiner, for venting the gas decay tanks to the containment, for venting the Make-up Tank to the containment, and for sampling gases from the waste gas decay tanks and Pake-up Tank.

Copies of all approvc" precedures were kept in a log book maintained by NRR personnel working in the Unit No. 2 Turbine Building.

. ert of my duties involved obtaining copies of control rocm logs on liquid and gas samples, tank inventories and the hydrogen recombiner.

Information on systems status and cperations was obtained from plant health physics and radwaste system personnel. This information was provided to personnel in the tiRC trailers at the Observation Center.

All records and logs were left at the site when I returned to my duty station.
