WASH WOTON, D. C. 20555 April 13, 1979 NRC ADVISORY -- THERMCCOUPLE READINGS We reccmmend that all incore thermocouples be read in a continuous manner with provisions for rapid retrieval and permanent storage.
It is clear that a continuous reading of thermocouples will be needed during the transition to natural circulation.
!t is also clear that temperature trends, which were not recorded during the pump changeover on April 6, would have given additional clues to core behavior in natural circulation.
Since future ficw transients cannot be ruled out and since the transition to natura' circulation could occur involuntarilj, we recommend that the continuous recording of all thermocouple readings be initiated as soon as possible.
