SiSMRY OF 'i'tY 25,1974 "EETI?tG WITH APFLICN1Ts' PE?RESE'ITATIVES TO DISCUSS ADDITICIAL IiFOPJMTICM REQUIRD1ENTS - CC:! TAIT'E'iT SYSTE"5 Papesentatives of the Containment Systers Branc" cut with the apolicants' recresentatives to discuss additicnal infomation required in tne apalicants' FSAR for T!I-2. The list of participants is enclosac.

The aaplicants' rasocnse in tendment 15, June 3,197J, to our question 9-5, March 18,1974, pertaining to ccntainnent subcccpart-cent pressure rasponse analyses was incomolete. Tne staff indicatad the pipe breaks to be considered in the analysis and the required nodalization infomation, pressure infomation, and detaile of the analysis mthod which must be putaitted to ecmolete the rescense to this question. A fomal questicn will be issued to the applicants.

The applicants were asked if sand olugs were used inside containment for radiation shielding. They indicated that such plucs were not used in T:iI-2. The applicants should state in the FSAR that sand plugs are not used inside the TMI-2 containment.

The TM-2 FSAR, Table 9.2-2, shcws that a significant amount of stored energy in the steam generators has not baen mleased to the contain=cnt during the post-reflood period. We need to knew that all of the energy has been properly accounted for in the analyses and that the analyses naYe Considered the Worst Case break and conditions of heat transfer. We cannot evaluate the validity of the applicants' conclusions at this tim en the basis of the infomatica and analyses that have been presented.

Fomal questions will be submitted to the applicants.

Pertaining to the reactor building spray systea, the applicants need.

to present a discussica of the pu=o NPSH carcin to dencristrate confomance to the guidelines of Regulatory Guide 1.7.

A discussion of design features which cemit the water to enter the sumn fren the refueliig and reacter cavities is needed in the FS*R. '

. 'Je need to detamine the adecuacy of the reactor buildinq fan cooler system for a LOCA.

Nsign infomation and pressure analyses for the housinq and ductwork are required from the acclicant. The aoplicants' reoresentatives indicated that there may be a delay in rescending completely.

Infomation on tne housing portior is mere readily available, hcuever, the duct.sork portion reaains to be analyzed.

'Je indicated that we shculd have this respense by October 13, 1974.

Femal questions ::ill be submitted to the acclicants.

We need quantitative infomation en the release of centainment atmosphere (fissien product release) assuming that the pantainrent purge vent valves are open at the time of a LOCA.

hign specifications for the containment vents and purge valves ara needed in the FSAR along with tests or analyses vhich ensure proper operation of these valves.

We need a discussion of the provisiens for rnonitoring hydrogen in the reactor building atmospnere.

Systems or portions of systems which will be open or vented to atms-phere and/or drained of fluids, as required by 10 CFR 50, Appendix J, need to be identified. Exceptions must be identified and Justified.

Leak testing requirinents and compliance with Appendix J,13 CFR 50 were discussed.

For-al questions will be submitted to the acplicants en all items of discussicn where a response is needed in. the FS'R.
