Decket Ilc. 5C-320 Cperating License :Ic. DPR-73 Pseudo Ejected Scd Test Deletion 3F4 has recc :end.ed that Met-Ed delete the pseudo ejected red verth test perfor ed at kC", pcVer frc: the ~'C-2 Startup and Test Fregra-

'F4's recentendation is based on the fact that the predicted ejected red verth is extremely small, and the prediction has been verified at Other plants.

'de ag ee with 3F4's recc endation. D.erefore, ve prcpose to delete the at pcVer ejected red test in that, performance Of the test vculd generate unnecessary raivaste and censure u, to 2h hours of time that eccid be ased scre productivel.

/

In discussicns vith members of ycur staff, several questions were asked concerning deletion of this test.

Ansvers to these questions are attached.

Deletien of the ejected red vo-th reasurement at pcVer is justified, because:

Based cn the above, ve request your concu rence in deleting the ejected red verth reasurements at hCi pcVer.

Ouestien 2:

Are the Rancho Seco and T:C-2 cores the same and vere they analyced identically?

~4hy do the T:C-2/ Rancho Seco predictions differ?

Ansver:

The CE-2 sed Rsncho Seco (and Davis Besae) cores are essentially the sare. 2e rajcr difference between the two ccres is the presence of the Gadclinia descastratice bu nable poisen rods in 2C-2.

2 ese poisen reds hcve" r, have Only r ninor influence on red verths.

  • he predictive analyses for the Rancho Secc (and Davis 3 esse) were perfor ed using 3D - PDQ (1-cene) while CE-2 analyced using 3D H A'E (1-zene).

""ne predicted and reasured values for ejected red vorth are given in Table 1 belev.

  • he major difference betveen the predicticns for CE-2 and these of Davis 3 esse and Rancho Seco are believed to be a result of the analyses being perfor ed at differing Grcup 6 and 7 vithdrawals (75% for Rancho Secc* and 33.3% for ZC-2) rather ths: the influence of the deconstraticn poisen rods cr pradictive code utiliced. ~his reasoning is deacustrated in Table 2 as calculated by a pin-by-pin 23 ? Q (see 3X4 10ll6A). Alsc, these fcur assemblies with Gadolinia are enriched to 1.30 v/o instead of the 3atch 1,1.c8 v/c.
