s Inventory of SD Follow-up Actions on Three Mile Island (TMI)
Contact Estimated Office Person Descriptive Title Compl. Date SC Ray Smith Conduct a systematic review of our standards to determine their adequacy, accuracy, and 4/12/79 completeness in light of the lessons learned in the TMI incident. Specifically, this review includes:
. all technical regulations
. all regulatory guides
, all industry standards referenced in regulations or regulatory guides
, all regulations, regulatory guides, and industry standards currently under development Z
These standards products are to be placed into three categories:
ll A.
Those requiring urgent action as a result of the Three Mile Island incident.
7 B.
Those that probably need revision but not on an urgent basis.
f C.
Those that have no relationship to the Three Mile Island incident.
New standards that should be developed are also to be listed.
I The basis f;r this review is to be the preliminary notifications which we have received a d the letter to all licensees with B&W plants issued by IE on April 1 1979.
SD Ray Smith Develop a preliminary list of specific aspects that will be considered for 4/18/79 modification in each of the standards products 31 aced in Categories A and B.
SD Ray Smith Develop priorities for considering and implementing modifications listed above in 4/25/79 conjunction with reconsideration of priorities of all pre-TMI activities planned in SD.
,SD Ray Smith Initiate modification of liinhest priority standards required by TMI event.
5/2/79 SD H. Peterson Three SD staff members (Hal Peterson, John Buchanan, and Lew Battist) are involved in 4/26/79 completing a preliminary report on the TMI accident dose assessment for the ad hoc interagency task group on dose assessment.
SD R. Purple Exploratory discussions are being held relative to the NRC participating in and/or helping to fund the Pennsylvania Department of Health in conducting epidemiologic s
studies related to the incident at TMI.
