50-320 APPLICANT:

Metropolitan Edison Company FACILITY:

Three Mile Island Unit 2 SD! MARY OF MEETING CN ADDITIONAL ELECTRICAL & CONTAINMENT ITEMS Representatives of the applicant met with me=bers of the NRC staff on 3-21-75 to discuss the additional electrical and containment syste=s questions in our letter of July 30, 1975, which are attached for reference.

222.40 - The applicant requested cicrification of what was meant by

" balance of plant Class IE equipment" The staff defined this as equipment in ESF and safety relcted systems, and noted that the question is intended to deal with seismic and environmental qualification.

Specific items of equipment were discussed; for exa ple, the Reactor Building Air Cooling Fan motor has been tested in the post-LOCA environ =ent, according to the applicant. The staff indicated that the Franklin Institute test was acceptable for valve operators.

012.16 - The applicant indicated his objection to replying fully to the position, and noted he will limit his resIcnse to a discussion of the extent of conformance of the purge syste:

8.th the position. He also noted that 90 hours0.00104 days
0.025 hours
1.488095e-4 weeks
3.4245e-5 months
of purging per year during reactor operatien could be a considerable proble=.

It is not necessary to respond to any aspect of the above ites which has been previcusly addressed.

222.41 Provide your design criteria and precedures for fire s: cps (None) and seals. Your response should address but not be limited to the folicwing:

a) Cable and cable tray penetrations thrcugh walls and floors, and all other types of cable ways or conduits.

b)

Design criteria for each type cf fire stop rad seal installation, c)

Interval (physical distance) at which the fire stops are installed in vertical cable trays, and in hori: ental cable trays (if any).

d)

List of naterials used and'their characteristics with regard to fla:mability and fire retardancy and their fire underwriters rating.
