Dear Mr. Denton:
The Environ = ental Protection Agency has reviewed the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Co==ission's Final Environ = ental I= pact S tate =ent issued July 22,1976, in conjunction with the application of Metropolitan Edison Co=pany for a license for the start-up and operation of the Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 2.
We have found the state =ent to be adequate in ter=s of its analysis of potential environ = ental i= pacts.
We have also found that our co==ents concerning the draf t EIS for Three Mile Island have been addressed in an acceptable manner. Therefore, we have no objections to the start-up and operation of Unit 2 of the Three Mile Island Nuclear Generad ng Facility at this time.
We do wish to be kept infor=ed of all changes or =edifications to the pre-operational and operational monitoring progra=s that are to be perfor=ed by the applicant, Metropolitan Edison Co=pany. Also, any changes to the cooling tower anti-corrosion or anti-fouling syste=s should be cited in the operating reports for this station.
