Docket No. 50-320 Gentlemen:

In our request for a prehearing conference, filed with the Board en April 3, 1978, we stated that Applicants were attempting to arrange a meeting among the parties to discuss the possibility of agreements as to the issues to be considered in the remand hearing on radon-222.

We further stat.ed that we would inform the Board of the results of those attempts.

Counsel for Applicants have discussed the possibility of a meeting with both NRC Staff counsel and with Dr. Kepford for the Intervenors.

While the NRC Staf f has exprensed its willing-ness to meet, Dr. Kepford has indicated that such a meeting would not be useful.

Under these circumstances, Applicants request the Board to set a date for a prehearing conference in order that the
