VENDOR INSPECTION OF GE HITACHI NUCLEAR ENERGY QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM AND TITLE 10 OF THE CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS PART 21 PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION
Dear Ms. Catts:
This letter documents the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staffs plan to perform an inspection at GE Hitachi (GEH) to review the implementation of your quality assurance program and reporting program in accordance with Appendix B, Quality Assurance Program Criteria for Nuclear Power Plants and Fuel Reprocessing Plants, to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 50, Domestic Licensing of Production and Utilization Facilities, and 10 CFR Part 21, Reporting of Defects and Noncompliance. Specifically, the quality assurance and Part 21 programs implementation will be reviewed as they pertain to GEHs design, qualification, and commercial-grade dedication activities related to basic components supplied to U.S. NRC regulated facilities. As discussed in a phone call on August 4, 2019, the inspectors plan to be on site at your facility beginning Monday, September 16, 2019, and will conduct the inspection through Friday, September 20, 2019. Subsequent to the inspection, a report will be issued and transmitted to you via letter.
