Docket flos. 50-295 & 50-304

Dear Members of the Board:

On January 10, 1980, the undersigned called Licensing Board member Dr. Forrest J. Remick for clarification of Board Ouestion 2, Memorandum and Order, January 8, 1930.

Staff expert witnesses sought clarification of whether the phrase

" water inside the proposed vented fuel storage tubes" referred to (1) the water inside the Boral and SS304 " sandwich," i.e., between the Boral and the Stain-less Steel, or (2) the water inside the inner diameter of the fabricated tubes, i.e., the area where a fuel assembly would be located.

Dr. Remick informed me that the first interpretation was the subject of the Board's question.

Sincerely, e
