Dear Mr. Chackes:
Your letter of November 9,1979, inquiring about the status of the operating license application for the Callaway Plant has been referred to me for answer.
Union Electric Company tendered the application for the operating licenses for the Callaway Plant, Units 1 & 2 on October 19, 1979. The application has not yet been docketed for Staff review. After the application is docketed, a notice of opportunity for hearing will be published in the Federal Register as well as local newspapers. After the notice is published, petitions to intervene may be submitted and a hearing requested as described in the Comission's Rules of Practice,10 CFR Part 2.
At this time no firm date for docketing the application and publishing the
, notice of opportunity for hearing has been scheduled.
I am enclosing a copy ot the Comission's Rules of Practice for your information in representing the Coalition for the Environment, St. Louis Region, in the event that your client wishes to submit a petition to intervene in response to the notice to be published.
