Dear Mr. Haass:

Enclosed are twenty-five copies of affected page changes to APL-TOP-IA Rev. 5 as requested. The staff positions forwarded by the refer-enced letter have been addressed. Attachment 1 provides a cross reference between the staff positions of reference 1 and the page number where the revised response is contained. As discussed with your Mr. Conway on 12/18/79, additional changes have been made as follows:

A. The previous position of QC Supervisor has been changed to Manager of Nuclear Quality Control. This change has been reficcted throughout the manual.

B. Typographical errors have been corrected where detected. This includes changing Executive Director-G6C to Vice President-GSC in those paragraphs which were not updated during our June 11, 1979 submittal.

C. Appendix A, page 13, has been changed to show that the Pre-construction Verification interpretation applies to ANSI N45.2.8 in addition to ANSI N45.2.4 which was previously listed.

January 2, 1980 Mr. Walter P. Ilaass D. Paragraph 4.2.2(4) has been changed to better align with ANSI N45.2.13 and the reference to ANO-19, which was previously in paragraph 4.2.2(4),is now in 4.2.2(1).

E. The last three sentences of paragraph 7.2.1 of Section 7 have been deleted as this information is redundant to that of Appendix A, page 29, item 3.

In our 6/11/79 submittal to you, we discussed the possibility that ANO implementing procedure titles and numbering could be changing. We have concluded that these changes are necessary in order to effectively implement the requirements of APL-TOP-1A revision 5. These changes will be included in a future revision of the TOPICAL.

421.66 Appendix A - Page 17. Our exception to section 5.1 of ANSI N45.2.5 has been deleted. When grouting is performed, in process testing of the grout on a daily basis will be performed.

421.67 Appendix A - Page 18. Our exception to section 5.2 of ANSI N45.2.5 has been deleted. The com-posite of each shipment will be tested for chemical composition, pH, and specific gravity in accordance with ASTM C-494.

421.68 Per the telecon between our L. Humphrey and your J. Conway on 12/18/79, no response is necessary.

We presently do not have a position of QA Supervisor (Nuclear), nor does the QA organi-zation chart show the position. We wish to have the general information in paragraph 1.4.1.1.2.1 and 1.4.1.1.2.3 in case a Quality Assurance Supervisor (Nuclear) is added in the future.
