Docket Nos. 50-498 and 50-499 Gentlemen:

On December 31, 1979, llouston Lighting and Power Company, et al., (Applicants) filed a motion to compel intervenor Citizens for Equitable Utilities (CEU) to answer the interrogatories submitted to CEU on November 5, 1979.

In the NRC Staff's view, Applicants' motion to compel involves a ma*.ter of discovery between Applicants and CEU.

Consequently, we take no position with respect to the motion and by this letter inform the Board that the Staff will not submit a response to the motion.
