y MEMORANDUM FOR:

Edson G. Case, Chairman Technical Activities Steering Committee FROM:

Harold R. Denton, Director Division of Site Safety and Environmental Analysis

SUBJECT:

TASK ACTION PLAN B-32, ICE EFFECTS ON SAFETY-RELATED WATER SUPPLIES Enclosed is the Task Action Plan (TAP) for Task B-32, Ice Effects on Safety-Related Water Supplies.

I request that this Task Action Plan be reviewed and approved by the Technical Activities Steering Committee (TASC).

TAP B-32 has been reviewed by the groups listed in Section 3, NRR Technical Organizations Involved.

The comments provided by the Hydrology-Meteorology Branch and the Division of Operating Reactors have been incorporated in the enclosed TAP.

The Auxiliary Systems Branch has indicated that they do not expect to have available the manpower described in Section 3c.

However, since ASB's involvement is not required for the initial phase of the TAP and since support from ASB may not be required, I recommend that this TAP be approved in its present form recognizing that the potential problem of ASB manpower availability exists.
