Dear Mr. Grier:

In accordance with the requirements of Connecticut Yankee Technical Specifications, Section 6.9.2",

the following preliminary report concerning the results of diesel generator automatic load sequence timer surveillance tests is hereby submitted.

A routine operability verification test was conducted January 3, 1980 to insure that the emergency diesel generator automatic load sequence timers were functioning within allowable limits. The timers for Service Water Pumps lA and 1B and Containment Air Recirculation Fan F 17-1 failed to meet the surveillance test acceptance criteria.

Accordingly Emergency Diesel Generator 2A and its associated core cooling equipment were declared out of service while the timers were rendjusted. er replaced.

In accordance with an Adninistrative Technical Specification, the redundant emergency diesel generator automatic load sequence timers were tested for operability. The timer for containment air recirculation fan F 17-3 was found approximately four (4) seconds outside the test acceptance criteria.

The timer was adjusted to its required setting and the timer test was repeated with all timers meeting the test acceptance criteria.
