p OCT 2 S 1979 APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Basin Surveys, Inc.
License No. 47-13796-01 Based on the NRG inspection October 9, 1979, certain of your activities were apparently not conducted in full compliance with NRC requirements as indicated below.
These items have been categorized as described in correspondence to you dated December 31, 1974.
A.
As required by 10 CFR 20.105(b)(2), ao licensee shall possess or use licensed material in such a manner as to create in any unrestricted area from radio-active material in his possession, radiation levels which, if an individual were continuously present in the area, could result in his receiving a dose in excess of 100 millirers in any seven consecutive days.
Contrary to the above, on October 9, 1979, the day of the inspection, radiation levels of up to 7.0 millirems per hour were measured in the unrestricted area around your source storage shed.
This is an infraction.
B.
As required by 10 CFR 20.201(b), each licensee shall make such surveys as may be necessary for him to comply with the regulations in 10 CFR 20.
Contrary to the above, surveys performed to assure compliance with 10 CFR 20.105(b)(2), " Permissible levels of radiation in unrestricted areas" were not adequate. Specifically, these surveys did not identify radiation levels around your source storage shed in excess of the limits specified in 10 CFR 20.105(b)(2).
This is an infraction.
C.
As required by 10 CFR 19.11(c), Form NRC-3, " Notice to Employees", shall be posted by each licensee wherever individuals work in or frequent any portion of a restricted area.
Contrary to the above, on October 9,1979, the day of the ~ inspection, no Form NRC-3 was posted at your Parkersburg, West Virginia facility.
This is a deficiency.
