Dear Mr. Grier:
NRC IE BULLETIN NO. 79-14 SEISMIC ANALYSIS FOR AS-BUILT SAFETY-RELATED PIPING SYSTEMS NO. 1 AND 2 UNITS HOPE CP.EEK GENERATING STATION In reply to IE Bulletin No. 79-14 dated July 2, 1979, we offer the following response:
The NRC requires that we inspect all of Hope Creek Generat-ing Station's Units No. 1 and 2 safety related systems in action items 2 and 3.
Due to the small amount of piping and hangers installed and the lack of any piping systems completed, a special inspection for "as-built" configura-tions would be appropriate until the system piping is completed.
Our in process inspection, final inspection, and review methods are being exercised over the next several years of construction.
These inspection procedures are sufficiently similiar in method and intent to the program outlined in this NRC bulletin that a special inspection at this time would be redundant.
Revision I, dated July 18, 1979 Supplement 1, dated August 15, 1979, and Supplement 2, dated September 7, 1979 provide additional guidance for the inspection, review and identification of non-conformances in piping systems at Hope Creek.
Due to the early construction stages of pipe 1591 188 7 012170 2L3dt
