4 RESPONSE TO I & E BULLETIN 79-24 Met-Ed has reviewed and identified safety related lines which are subjected to freezing temperatures.

A procedure has been developed to inspect these lines to assure they are adequately protected during extecely cold weather. The inspection vill determine:

a.

Operability of the heat tracing and whether the te=perature control point is properly set, b.

Vnether the temperature sensor is located on the coldest portion of the line, c.

Any heat trace damage (such as by leaking chemicals), and d.

Missing or da= aged insulation.

Discrepancies discovered during this inspection vill be corrected, and NRC will be informed of any major deficiencies found.

It is anticipated that this inspection vill be completed by November 30, 1979 1591 167
