This letter concerns our proposed shipment of a Type B quantity of radioactive material for disposal. This shipment will involve 34.5 millicuries of radium -226, a non-licensed isotope. Quality Assurance requirements set forth in 10 CFR 71.12 are therefore not required.

With this in mind, please disregard my letter of November 12, 1979, and Mr. S. V. Lucas' letter of November 13, 1979.

In addition, please accept this letter as notification that, pursuant to 10 CFR 71.12(b)(iii), we wish to register as a user of Chem Nuclear Systems, Inc., CNSI l-8 radioactive materials shipping cask. Applicable Union Carbide Corporation USNRC License Numbers are 47-00260-2 and 47-06067-3. Packace identification number for this cask is USA /9070/B, NRC Docket No. 71-9070.
