Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

This is to confirm the telephone call to Mr. Bill Bradford (NRC) at 1638 on November 7, 1979 by Mr. W. G. Hairston, III (APCo)in accordance with Tech. Spec. 3.7.11.b.2.a.

As a result of a fire in Cooling Tower B at approximately 1228 on 11-7-79, the Fire Protection Tanks A and B levels fell to 120,000 gallons.

Tech. Spec. 3.7.11.1.b requires a minimum level of 250,000 gallons.

The fire was extinguished at 1300 hours0.015 days <br />0.361 hours <br />0.00215 weeks <br />4.9465e-4 months <br />.

It is anticipated that the tank levels will be returned to minimum acceptable Tech. Spec. levels by approximately 1730 on 11-7-79.

Further details will be provided in the followup report.
