This letter documents a verbal report to Mr. D. L. Wigginton (NRC) by H. P. Williams (Duquesne Light Company) of the completed actions at the Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit 1 in response to the Rod Drop Analysis problems reported by Westinghouse and discussed at a joint meeting on November 19, 1979. The following interim restrictions have been included in procedure revisions and have been reviewed by the operators.
1.
With Rod Control in Manual mode - no change.
2.
With Rod Control in Automatic and reactor power < 90% - no change.
3.
With Rod Control in Automatic and reactor power > 90% - the "D" bank control rods must be greater than 215 steps withdrawn and all other rods fully withdrawn.
These actions were completed by 2400 hours0.0278 days <br />0.667 hours <br />0.00397 weeks <br />9.132e-4 months <br /> on November 22, 1979, and the restrictions will remain in effect until the problem has been resolved by additional analyses and/or plant modifications.
