ZIMMER NUCLEAR POWER STATION -

UNIT 1 - ENVIRONMENTAL QUALIFICATION OF CLASS IE INSTRUMENTATION AND ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT

Dear Mr. Stolz:

In response to your November 9, 1979 letter requesting a response schedule for providing information in accord with the draft copy of your interim position regarding environmental qualifications of equipment, it is presently estimated that a response will be provided by June 15, 1980.

Please be aware that much of the equiument involved was ordered as early as 1969 in advance of the 'ctobe r, 1972 Construction Permit for Zimmer - Unit 1 and pritc to the issue of the IEEE Standard 323-1974.

As it may be determined during the period of the review of information and the preparation of summary tables that the IEEE aging requirements may not have been addressed for some of the equipment, additional time beyond the June 15, 1980 date may be required for upgrading.

Your request is interpreted as being pertinent only to safety related electrical equipment.
