Dear Mr. Schicsinger:
It is my understanding that the Atomic Energy Commission has tentatively scheduled public hearings on the Limerick h'uclear Power Plant for Cetober.
In this regard, I have been advised that ::r. Carl liouston, a welding engineer, is not recognized by the AEC as a qualified witness and, therefore, has been denied the privilege of testifying.
Mr. Ilouston was in charge of the welding portion in the construction of I
the nuclear power plant in Surry, Virginia.
I would very much appreciate being provided with an explanation for the rationale behind this judgment by the AEC.
I also understand that the Tnree Mile Island Plant is at the operating stage, awaiting a permit from the AEC.
Reports indicate that this plant may have some construction faults, specifically:
honeycombing in the primary containnent, faulty fuel rods, and an operational fault in the emergency core cooling system. Additionally, this plant is located only two and one-half miles from the end of the !!arrisburg Urport runway.
Again, I would appreciate being provided with an up-dated report on this plant and verification of the above-mentioned probicas.
