'Ihree Mile Island Operating License
Dear Sir:
'Ihis refers to the Jtine 29, 1972 advice of subnission to the Office of the Fcdcral Register a notice for hearing in the mtter of the issuance of a facility operatmg license which would authorize Metropolitan Edison Cmpany and Jersey-Central Power & Light Cmpany, and Pennsylvania Electric Cmpany, as co-licens&s, to possess, use, and operate the Three Mile Island Nuclear Station Unit I in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania (Docket tb. 50-289).
As you may know, the Camenwealth of Pennsylvania has recently exprien d'a disastrous flood in the wake of hurricane Agnes, which has caused a substantial fraction of the technical staff of the Depart-ment of Enviromental Resources to be rightfully engaged in activities which mitigate the effects of the disaster. 'Ihe consequence of this activity nakes us, tmporarily, unable to examine, review, generate ccmnents, and formulate a position on the applicants' Environmental Report, as amended, and the Ccmnission's Draft Detailed Statement, t:ithm the 30 day time frame allowed to file a request for hearing and petition to intervene in the prm aadings, should this action becane necessary as a result of the review.
In any event, we are desirous of protecting our right to participate in any and all prcceedings on this docket and we, therefore, respectfully request that the dmaline for filing a request for hearing and petition to intervene be exterded for the Cmmonwealth of Pennsylvania so as to coincide with the dead-lina for subnission of ccmnents on the Environmental Report and Draft
