ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA FOR THE MARK I CONTAINMENT LONG TERM PROGRAM The staff has completed its review of the generic load definition methodology and structural acceptance criteria proposed by the Mark I Owners Group in NED0-21888 and NED0 24583, respectively, for the Mark I Containment Long Term Program (LTP). As a result of this review, the staff has determined that certain modifications and/or clarifications to the industry proposed load definition techniques will be necessary to provide LTP plant-unique analyses acceptab'!e to the NRC. These modifications are set forth in the enclosed LTP acceptance criteria, which are attached to a sample transmittal letter.
The enclosed sample letter and acceptance criteria shoulo be transmitted to each licensee of a Mark I/BWR facility within seven days of the date of this memorandum. By copy of this memorancum, DPM is requested to send similar letters to the non-operating Mark I BWR facilities (i.e.,
Fermi Unit 2 and Hope Creek Units 1 and 2). Copies of the acceptance criteria sill be provided separately to the licensing assistants.
