Gentlemen:
w;@
Pursuant to the Staff's commitment to provide weekly reports on the status of resolution of open items and completion of the Stsff's Safety Evaluation Report (SER) in the referenced proceeding, this constitutes such report for the week ending October 19, 1979.
During tbe past week, intensive Staff review and evaluation of the proposed modifications and of the remaining open items has continued. A meeting between Staff reviewers and PGE/Bechtel technical personnel was held oa October 18 and has continued through today, October 19, 1979. At this meeting, the Licensee submitted preliminary, and in the same cases partial, written responses to 19 of the 48 questions propounded by the Staff on September 14, 20, 28 and October 2, 1979.
These written responses were discussed. Detailed discussions relative to the information sought by the Staff in the remaining 31 questions for which written responses have not been submitted were conducted. The Licensee described the analyses which will be presented and outlined the approach it will take in responding to these remaining questions for which information is required before the Staff's SER can be completed.
A summary of the informa. ton presented at, and the results of, this t.*-day meeting will be prepared by the Staff and distributed to the Licensing Boat? and parties.
Sincerely, 014 z
